Wage Rate

The starting wage rate is $24.02/hour.

The Housekeeper/Laundry Aide reports to the Environmental Services Manager and is expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the home by cleaning and sanitizing rooms and furnishings in assigned work areas following established policies and procedures. A major part of the role as a housekeeper will be to actively involve residents in everyday domestic living, creating meaningful occupation & activities.

Responsibilities

Laundry:

Receive and sort laundry according to type, condition and weight Follow specific instructions for the treatment of soiled linen, separating loads according to classification Wash and dry laundry following instructions for machine operations, designated wash and dry times, etc. Labels personal clothing as received Sorts personal clothing, setting aside items for repair or ironing Sort and fold clean laundry for delivery to appropriate units Maintain linen inventory Observes operation of laundry machines and reports malfunctioning to Supervisor Assist in maintaining and cleaning laundry facilities, equipment and supplies Adhere to established department policies, procedures and objectives regarding quality management, safety, environment and infection control Maintain required records and information as directed

Housekeeping

Using specified cleaning/disinfecting/sanitizing agents and following specific procedures, work patterns and routines, performs tasks such as vacuuming, sweeping, dry/wet mopping, scrubbing, sanitizing/disinfecting floors, spot cleaning walls, windows and doors between washing, dusting, washing, sanitizing/disinfecting furniture, shelves, woodwork, etc., emptying waste baskets and rearranging furniture, removing waste, daily cleaning and disinfecting daily all bathroom fixtures and replenishing supplies, cleaning floors, fixtures and furnishings in utility rooms, kitchen closets, etc. Ensures the privacy of residents during performance of duties. Respects privacy, dignity and promotes confidentiality within a warm, homely setting. Prepares room for new occupants following prescribed procedures. Notifies Manager when supplies are low, or equipment is malfunctioning. Returns unused supplies and cleans and stores equipment. Identifies potential liability issues and takes action to minimize risk Other duties as assigned and or indicated in the Job Task Inventory

Qualifications

The qualifications needed to join our family are as follows:

Some understanding of chemicals and equipment used in cleaning Ability to follow written and oral instructions Ability to read, write and understand verbal and written instructions Ability to work from the heart and make others smile Ability to make the most of the time you have to provide positive social interactions To show evidence of being focused on people’s feelings when interacting and knowing how to turn a task into positive social interaction. To undertake and meet all legal requirements within a context of promoting individuals’ rights and measuring/reducing elements of risk. Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one As a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit documented results of TB testing (within the last six months or within 14 days upon hire) or a chest X-ray (within the last year), as per Public Health requirements Two supervisory references required COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment
