Hours of Work: MON-FRI, SOME SATURDAYS 7:30-15:30

Position Summary
As a member of a multi-disciplinary Collaborative Practice Team, the Speech-Language Pathologist will provide assessment, treatment, and education for adult patients, family, and staff regarding the management of communication and swallowing disorders. The successful candidate will participate in program planning/development; professional and hospital initiatives supporting quality management and research; supervision of Communication Disorders Assistants; mentoring of colleagues and students; and assist with coverage across other clinical areas as required. This position currently supports the acute adult population at @Midtown but can be re-assigned depending on organizational needs. Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for all patients, staff, and visitors.
Position Requirements
Registered and in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario. Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited school. Membership in Ontario Speech-Language Pathology Association preferred. A minimum of two years hospital related experience in assessment and management of dysphagia and video fluoroscopic studies preferred. Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, problem solve and respond to competing, unscheduled demands. Knowledge of relevant legislation and community resources required . Demonstrated ability to function independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, organization, and time management skills. Experience and skill in complex decision making processes, advancing best practice initiatives, and exploration of innovative models of care. Proven experience in self-directed learning and peer evaluation processes. Ability to provide coverage throughout the organization as required . Excellent attendance, punctuality, and work performance record Demonstrated evidence of recent and relevant continuing education considered an asset Demonstrated ability to work with chronic patients and families effectively Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a collaborative care environment as part of an interdisciplinary team Demonstrated good attendance record Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, organization, and time management skills.
