Children’s Centre Thunder Bay works together with families, caregivers and a community of partners to make a real difference in the quality of life of children and youth. We are an accredited, not-for-profit organization providing treatment and support services for children and youth, from birth to 18 years, who are experiencing behavioural, emotional, developmental or social difficulties. The Centre is currently seeking to fill the following positions:

One Temporary Full Time Communicative Disorders Assistant

Contract Position – Up to One Year

Union Position – 35 Hours Weekly

Hourly - $30.46 - $37.06

15% in lieu of benefits

Responsibilities:

The Communicative Disorders Assistant provides intervention to children with communication and/or hearing disorders under the direction of a Speech-Language Pathologist. The Communicative Disorders Assistant may provide education regarding normal speech, language and hearing development. This position functions according to the CASLPO Position Statement on Supportive Personnel.

Qualifications:

• A Communicative Disorders Assistant Diploma. Early Childhood Education Diploma preferred.

• Excellent planning and organizational skills

• Knowledge of children’s mental health, child development, and family systems

• Knowledge and experience in working with children from 0 to 6 years of age who are struggling with emotional, behavioural, social and developmental issues.

• Knowledge of audiology (including anatomy of the ear, basic audiometric screenings, and hearing aid technology), as well as physiological hearing screening.

• An ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

• A valid Ontario Driver's Licence

• Travel to the district is required.
