About The Opportunity

Reporting to the Central Zone Pharmacy Directory, the Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) Clinical Pharmacy Coordinator is a key member of the pharmacy leadership team, promoting evidence-based, patient-centered, safe, and cost-effective use of antimicrobials. The Clinical Coordinator will have an advanced practice role as the AMS Pharmacist Lead working in partnership with the AMS Physician Lead to coordinate the Nova Scotia Health AMS Program making recommendations on developing, prioritizing, implementing, and evaluating AMS initiatives. This role requires proficiency with project planning, quality improvement methods and clinical research, and strong communication and interpersonal skills working in collaboration with clinical teams, to facilitate group learning, and effective AMS knowledge translation.

Key Responsibilities Include, But Aren't Limited To

Lead and support for the AMS program by acting as a professional practice leader, educator and mentor, Coordination with partners in the Division of Infectious Diseases, Microbiology and Laboratory Services, Quality and System Performance, Interprofessional Practice and Learning, Infection and Prevention Control, & IWK Health, Collaboration with external partners such as the Nova Scotia Action Plan for Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), Association of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Disease Canada (AMMI Canada), National Collaborating Centre for Infectious Disease (NCCID), other AMS programs across Canada, Strategically plan, implement, evaluate, participate in and report on core AMS initiatives, Manage AMS program metrics, performance indicators, including monthly and annual reporting to achieve required organizational practices as per Accreditation Canada, Foster AMS quality improvement projects and clinical research.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

Post-baccalaureate Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), with a minimum of five years of recent, hospital pharmacy experience, or formal training as a hospital pharmacist (e.g., PGY1 hospital pharmacy residency) and currently practicing in an area of a therapeutic specialty (i.e., Infectious Diseases or AMS) or PGY2 hospital pharmacy residency, or M.Sc. or PhD with experience in clinical research Eligible for licensure with the Nova Scotia Pharmacy Regulator as an Active Practice Pharmacist Advanced clinical skills – patient assessment, drug therapy assessment, drug information Advanced communication skills – written and verbal Advanced teaching skills for the purpose of teaching/mentoring– undergraduate (pharmacy, medicine) students, post-graduate students (pharmacy, medicine, nurse practitioner), pharmacy staff (direct patient care pharmacists), other health care professionals Advanced critical appraisal skills in review of drug literature Advanced research skills for the safe and ethical conduct of clinical and epidemiologic research Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred

Permanent full-time position; 75 hours biweekly Hybrid position Up to 25% travel required

Compensation And Benefits

$53.43- $70.99 Hourly
