This position has a term length of one year plus a day from hire.

Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person work at North Campus Edmonton.

Join one of Canada’s largest Family Medicine residency programs as an Assessment Specialist, driving excellence in competency-based medical education (CBME) across Alberta’s distributed training network. This high-impact role supports 200+ residents and faculty in diverse clinical learning environments, ensuring the integrity and continuous improvement of assessment practices.  Your impact will shape the next generation of Family Medicine physicians in Alberta.

Why This Role Matters

  • You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of medical education by:
  • Designing, implementing, and refining assessment systems (CBAS, one45) for competency-based evaluation.
  • Leading data analysis, reporting, and quality assurance to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Collaborating with faculty, program leadership, competency committees, and national partners to advance educational initiatives.
  • Managing multi-site coordination in a complex, distributed training environment. 

The Assessment Specialist leads CBME-aligned assessment processes for residency training, analyzes data to identify trends and improvement opportunities, partners with faculty, administrators, and national bodies to align strategies with educational goals, drives quality enhancement initiatives impacting learners and training sites province-wide, and manages multiple priorities in a fast-paced, distributed educational landscape.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Experience in medical education, assessment systems (CBAS/one45), or program evaluation.
  • Strong data analysis, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passion for competency-based education (CBME) and quality improvement in healthcare training.
  • Ability to coordinate complex projects across geographically dispersed teams.
