Position: Swim Lesson Assistant Volunteer Location: Stoney Creek Community Centre, YMCA and Library - 920 Sunningdale Road E, London ON, N5X 0H5 As part of being a volunteer: Receive a complimentary YMCA personal membership to our Health & Fitness facilities Be part of a caring and supportive network of people to help each other succeed Contribute to real, meaningful impact in the lives of children and youth Program Description: Assist the Aquatics staff on duty while building relationships with members and participants. Demonstrate knowledge of pool rules, YMCA mission, core values, and act as a positive role model. Help to maintain a positive, friendly and safe environment in Aquatic areas. Core Responsibilities: Work directly with swim instructors to provide lessons for children, youth and adult Proactively interact with swimmers to assist their practice Supervise and ensure safety of all participants (sign in/out, emergency procedure) Maintain pool area and deck cleanliness Greet all participants and guests with a smile Build positive relationships with YMCA staff, volunteers and members Maintain regular communication with Manager of Aquatics Complete all online trainings, program training and WHY School Qualifications: Minimum Age: Aquatic Volunteers must be a minimum 14 years of age as per our HR policies. Minimum certifications: Bronze Cross and Standard First Aid with CPR-C/Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C Original Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening less than 6 months old for volunteers 18 years of age and older National Lifeguard and/or LSS Swim Instructors certifications an asset Strong swimming skills required Fun, friendly and enthusiastic Positive role model Hardworking, dependable and a team player Genuinely interested in being a part of the YMCA Minimum commitment of 4 months, 3 hours/week
