Job Details: Position Title: Registered Nurse Status: FT Support Hours: 35 hours per week, this includes working between the hours of 08.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. and may be 8 hour or 10-hour shifts. Faculty/Department: Student Success and Engagement Campus/Location: North campus and Lakeshore campus (travel between both campuses) Salary: Payband K: $47.13 - $54.48 Starting Salary: $47.13; the wage is determined by the Full-Time Support Collective Agreement. Compensation is progressional within the designated payband and is based on years of service.

About the Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre at Humber: The Student Wellness and Accessibility Centre (SWAC) is dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive. The cross-functional team includes Student Connection and Community Care, Residence Life and Education, Accessible Learning Services, Mental Health and Counselling, Health Services and Wellness Education and Programs. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join Health Services to support primary health care and health education for all Humber students. About the Registered Nurse Role: Reporting to the Associate Director, Clinical Services, the Registered Nurse is a member of an interdisciplinary team, in an integrated space including health, counselling, and accessible learning services. The RN promotes, maintains, and improves the physical, social, emotional, and mental well being of Humber students by means of health assessments, preventative health care, health education, health counselling, emergency care of the sick or injured, and intervention for those in crisis. In addition, the incumbent will assist in ensuring contractual health requirements are met by students prior to commencing academic placements. The RN role includes health services promotion including being present at tabling sessions and attending classrooms/ service fairs to promote clinic services as well as participate on committees representing Health Services, Student Services, and the Humber Polytechnic. The RN also serves as a resource for faculty and support staff to respond to the needs of students with complex physical, and mental health presentations across the Polytechnic. The RN will be networking closely with departments within Humber Polytechnic as well as Health and Safety, public safety, external agencies and providing guidance on how to comply with best practice standards, requirements, and regulations. (e.g., College of Nurse’s Association, Public Health, College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), and Ontario University and College Health Association, Nurses Association (OUCHNA), local primary care, and Emergency Medical System (EMS)). Areas of specialized knowledge include community/public health, reproductive health, primary care, sexual violence, and mental health nursing. The incumbent is expected to perform duties in accordance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, and regulations including, but not limited to, wearing/using protective equipment, devices, and/or clothing. The incumbent also works in compliance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act, and Workplace safety. In addition, the incumbent is expected to report to their supervisor any safety concerns, unsafe conditions or acts and any contraventions of the Act or regulations. This includes, but is not limited to, any defects in, or the absence of, protective devices or equipment.

If this sounds like you, keep reading: Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing Must be a Registered Nurse in Good standing with the CNO First Aid, CPR level C, Phlebotomy Certification Experience/Skills Minimum of three (3) years’ experience preferably community health, public health, emergency nursing, and / or mental health experience Experience working autonomously and as part of an interprofessional / collaborative care team. Demonstrated health, education, and counselling skills Leadership and organizational skills WHMIS, Health Care Consent Act, PHIPA, CNO standards of practice Demonstrated competency in addressing issues of sexuality, disability, gender, ethnicity, class and religion within a complex multi-racial and multi-faith environment. Demonstrated commitment to, knowledge of, and skill in application of anti-oppressive and trauma-informed practices Excellent communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills Computer literacy
