About the role

The Housing Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of residences as assigned by the Director of Adult Services, which provide home based supports for adults with a developmental disability. This service is delivered in accordance with the principles of inclusion and individual planning. Provides ongoing supervision of staff and evaluates and ensures consistent standards of practice based on Kinsight policies and program and Kinsight procedures. Performs duties related to the casual/on call system as required.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Diploma in Human Services or Community Support Work or Equivalent;
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a residential setting supporting individuals with a developmental disability;
  • A minimum of one year supervisory or administrative experience including experience budgeting and statistical record keeping;
  • Demonstrated understanding of core issues related to lifelong disability/community living and ability to support individuals and their families in addressing those issues;
  • Demonstrated practical experience in exercising independent judgement, initiative, time management and organizational skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills (written and verbal, including record keeping, and reporting) and ability to work as a team member;
  • Knowledge of and experience working with community agencies and government systems and services;
  • Must be computer literate and skilled in using word processing and internet software;
  • Must be able to obtain CCF Licensing Facility Manager status;

Working Conditions/Requirements

  • Satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal record check;
  • Use of personal vehicle required;
  • Unrestricted BC Class 4 Driver’s License;
  • Satisfactory driving record;
  • Community Care First Aid/C.P.R.;
  • MANDT Crisis Intervention Training Certificate;
  • Food Safe training;
  • Documentation of current Tuberculosis (TB) test (within 2 years), and/or signed Fraser Health Tuberculosis Screening Form confirming that no active TB symptoms are present;
  • A level of physical fitness necessary for lifting and transferring individuals, providing physical supports and assistance such as pushing wheelchairs and lifting and transferring people and providing assistance with personal care;
  • Available to work evenings and weekends;
  • Requires union membership;
