Please note: this position is combined with Competition S2604011 EA - Life Skills 2.75 hour. Applicants are required to apply to both competitions.
Purpose of Position
The Educational Assistant - Specialized Health Support provides additional student support in the areas of physical care needs and will perform health care duties as outlined in a student's Individual Health Care Plan.
Duties and Responsibilities
Are established by the School Principal within the parameters of the job profile.
NOTE: Positions under the EA classification are subject to change based on student needs.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Educational Assistant Certificate or equivalent 1 to 2 years related experience.
- Demonstrated ability to follow standardized work methods and processes while working with children to support learning.
- Demonstrated ability to function in the language of classroom instruction.
- Effective basic reading, writing and mathematical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with exceptional needs children to support learning.
- Knowledge and demonstrated ability to provide a range of personal and medical care to assigned students with intensive needs.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work with physically/emotionally demanding children.
Preferred Qualifications
- Class 5 Driver’s license.
- First Aid, CPR.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
- WHMIS training.
