Role Description This is a full-time, on-site General Practitioner role based in Alberta, Canada. The General Practitioner will provide comprehensive primary care services, including patient assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up care. Responsibilities include conducting physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and managing chronic and acute conditions in accordance with clinical guidelines. The role involves maintaining accurate medical records, coordinating care with specialists and other healthcare professionals, and offering preventive care, patient education, and health promotion. The General Practitioner will also contribute to continuous improvement of clinical workflows, support quality and safety initiatives, and participate in case discussions as needed. Qualifications Licensed or eligible for licensure as a General Practitioner/Family Physician in Alberta, with good standing in the relevant provincial medical regulatory authority. Demonstrated clinical skills in primary care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions across diverse patient populations. Strong patient communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain medical information clearly, provide compassionate care, and build long-term patient relationships. Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) and related clinical systems, with solid documentation, time management, and organizational skills. Experience in preventive medicine, health promotion, and patient education, including vaccinations, screenings, and lifestyle counseling. Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment with nurses, allied health professionals, and administrative teams. Commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous learning, and participation in professional development and quality improvement activities. Medical degree (MD or equivalent) and completion of an accredited residency in family medicine or general practice; additional certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS) are an asset. Experience in community-based or clinic-based practice in Canada is preferred; familiarity with Alberta’s healthcare system and regulatory requirements is beneficial.
