Role Description The Child and Youth Worker is a full-time, on-site role based in Stony Plain, AB. This role involves supervising visits between children and parents in a safe, supportive environment, ensuring that interactions are positive, respectful, and appropriate to the child’s developmental stage. The Child and Youth Worker will observe and document visits, identify risk factors or concerns, and provide guidance to caregivers on strategies that promote healthy attachment and consistent contact. Daily tasks include implementing visitation plans, de-escalating conflict when necessary, collaborating with social workers and other professionals, and maintaining clear, accurate records. The role also includes communicating with families and community partners, contributing to program development, and supporting initiatives that foster resilience and emotional well-being in children and youth. Qualifications Candidates should possess skills and experience in Youth Work and Youth Services, with a focus on supporting children and young people in complex family situations. Candidates should possess Social Work-related skills, including case collaboration, advocacy, and an understanding of trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches. Candidates should possess Youth Mentoring skills, including building trust, modeling healthy relationships, and providing guidance that promotes resilience and positive development. Candidates should possess strong Communication skills, including clear documentation, active listening, conflict resolution, and professional interaction with children, caregivers, and community partners. Relevant education such as a diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, or a related human services field. Knowledge of child development, family systems, and the impact of separation and trauma on children and youth. Ability to remain calm under pressure, set boundaries, and maintain a safe environment for all participants. Experience working in supervised visitation, community services, or similar settings is an asset. Ability to work some evenings or weekends as required, and willingness to participate in ongoing training.
