Position Details Job Number: JR00068 Department: Medical Bariatrics Clinic This position may be scheduled at any of the following sites: West 5th Campus (Hamilton Mountain) Job Type: Regular, Full time Contract Duration: (If applicable) 0 months Number of Positions: 1 Union: OPSEU Local 206 Hourly Rate (Min / Max): $61.5 - $79.75 Schedule Work Days: Monday to Friday Time of Day: Days Shift: Hours - 7.5 Shift Start: (If applicable) Application Dates Opening Date: 2026-06-01 Closing Date: Job Description Summary The Psychologist plans, conducts and supervises psychological services (eg. assessment and treatment) in the Bariatric Surgery Program as well as plans, coordinates and provides related research and program evaluation activities, and takes a leadership role in education, clinical training and other academic activities. Qualifications Registration as a psychologist or as a psychologist in supervised practice in the Province of Ontario. Demonstrated compliance with the ethical and professional practice standards of the profession. Completion of doctoral and/or postdoctoral training in areas related to behavioural medicine, evidence-based assessment and treatment. Eligibility for a faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences, McMaster University. Completion of CPA or APA accredited internship in psychology. Clinical experience in a behavioural medicine service. Training and experience in evidence-based assessment and treatments. Teaching and supervisory experiences at the undergraduate and graduate level. An established track record of academic productivity (eg. peer reviewed funding, peer reviewed publications, presentations at professional meetings. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team, to collaborate with community resources and services, and to advocate for the needs of clients. Knowledge and proficiency in clinical research design and analysis. Demonstrated interpersonal and supervisor skills required for the supervision of students, interns, residents, psychometrists, staff from other healthcare disciplines, and psychologists and/or psychological associates registered for supervised practice by the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Advanced oral and written communication skills required for assessment reports, scholarly presentations, and scholarly publications. Demonstrated knowledge, sensitivity and expertise in the care of seniors and their families. Gentle Persuasive Approach training preferred.
