About the role
Provides clinical counselling, therapy, & related services to individuals (children, youth, adults), couples, & families. May provide group therapy sessions & engage in community collaborations. Provide counselling, therapy & related services.Experience in counselling children, youth & familiesConducting initial assessments to determine needs & goalsDevelop individualized serviced plansFacilitate groups & develop programsAttend relevant agency meetings, knowledgeable about agency programs/community activities & community outreachPerform related administrative & record keeping dutiesParticipate in clinical supervisionAssist with supervision of peers, students & individual casesPerform work outside of regular operating hours including evenings & weekendsOther duties as assigned Degree in Social Work (BSW, BISW)3-5 years of supervised clinical experience in a related/relevant counselling areaEligible for registration with & maintain good standing in a relevant professional associationCertificate in Play Therapy an assetCritical Incident Debriefing an asset Theories/Practices of:interviewing, assessment, & evaluation techniqueshuman development, behavior & changecommunication & conflict resolutiontrauma- & violence-informed approachesAssess high risk clients (suicidal) & intervene quickly/appropriatelyRecognize signs/symptoms of other mental health disorders & refer client to appropriate servicesCultural awareness & sensitivity to Indigenous, immigrant, refugee & newcomer & 2SLGBTQI+ communitiesExperience in facilitating group work; knowledge of group dynamicsStrong organizational, time management & caseload management skillsExcellent written & verbal communicationMaintain confidentiality & uphold professional ethical standardsRespond effectively to complex & sensitive situationsCommitment to ongoing professional development
