Role Description The Licensed Optician role is a full-time, on-site position located in Scarborough, ON. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting customers with frame and lens selection, interpreting prescriptions, performing measurements and fittings, and ensuring proper adjustment of eyewear for comfort and optimal vision. The Licensed Optician will collaborate with optometrists and other team members to support eye exams, recommend appropriate lens options, and educate customers on lens features and eye care products. This role also involves maintaining accurate records, processing orders, managing inventory of frames and lenses, and providing attentive customer service to ensure a positive in-store experience. The optician is expected to adhere to regulatory standards, follow company policies, and contribute to a clean, organized, and professional retail environment. MUST BE LICENSED OPTICIAN IN ONTARIO Qualifications Strong knowledge of optics and optometry concepts, with the ability to interpret prescriptions and recommend appropriate lens solutions. Proven customer service and customer satisfaction skills, with experience supporting patients or customers in a retail or clinical eye care setting. Familiarity with eye exams and the ability to support optometrists by preparing patients, explaining procedures, and assisting with follow-up recommendations. Current licensure as an optician in Ontario and good standing with the relevant regulatory body. Attention to detail in measurements, fittings, and record-keeping, with strong organizational and time-management skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain technical information in a clear, accessible way. Comfort using point-of-sale systems and basic computer applications; experience with optical dispensing software is an asset. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform hands-on adjustments and fittings in a busy retail environment.
