Registered Nurse – Sexual Assault Care Centre – Part Time
About the role
Purpose
Sault Area Hospital is looking for a Registered Nurse to join their team at the Sexual Assault Care Centre/Partner Assault Clinic within the Mental Health and Addictions Department.
Duties
Participate and collaborate with other health care providers in provision of patient care. Effectively use the Standards of Nursing Practice and the Nursing Process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of the patient. Provide health teaching to patients and family. Compliant with legislation, and organizational and departmental policies, standards, and procedures Demonstrate good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Current registration with the College of Nurse of Ontario in good standing.
Experience
5 years previous nursing experience.
Skills/Ability
Understanding of issues of sexual and family violence. Demonstrated ability to provide effective crisis intervention. Working knowledge of computers. Proven ability to work collaboratively in a high paced interdisciplinary team. Strong interpersonal skills, tact, and compassion in dealing with adults and children who have been abused and/or assaulted. Possess a high level of self esteem and confidence, flexibility and creativity. Strong team building, decision making and leadership skills. Strong therapeutic patient teaching skills. Ability to respond to being paged within an agreed time frame. Ability to commit to a minimum of 48 hours per month of on-call. Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships; ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible and reassuring manner, both in person and on the telephone; tact, courtesy and alertness in public contacts. Demonstrated clinical competency in the management of care of patients. Behaviour consistent with Hospital Mission, Values and iCcare Way. Note: Because of the changing nature of the work and work to be done, other responsibilities and duties may be assigned and qualifications may be adjusted from time to time.
