Successful candidates will be working directly with the doctors to enter findings into charts, perform procedures under the supervision of the doctors, and complete administrative tasks to help the clinic flow smoothly. The successful candidate will assist high-quality eye care services, including comprehensive eye exams under supervision of a doctor, diagnosis and management of ocular conditions, and patient education. This role is essential to delivering clinical excellence and ensuring an outstanding patient experience. Key Responsibilities Clinical Care: Accurately perform patient screening and testing Assist in performing comprehensive eye examinations under supervision of a doctor and vision assessments for patients of all ages Assist in managing ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and dry eye syndrome Assist in glasses, contact lenses, and therapeutic pharmaceuticals where applicable, under the supervision of the doctors’. Conduct and interpret diagnostic testing, including OCT, fundus photography, visual field testing, and corneal topography Assist in co-managing surgical cases with ophthalmologists (e.g., cataract, LASIK, retinal procedures) Perform other tasks as needed Patient Interaction & Education: Explain diagnoses, treatment plans, and preventative care clearly and empathetically Educate patients on eye health, proper lens care, and visual hygiene Discuss treatment options and follow-up care as needed Collaboration & Coordination: Work collaboratively with opticians, ophthalmic assistants, nurses, pharmacists, and front office staff to ensure seamless patient flow and care delivery Refer patients to ophthalmology or other medical professionals when specialized care is needed Participate in interdisciplinary care planning if the patient’s condition affects or is affected by other systemic health issues Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in the EMR system Ensure compliance with professional and ethical standards and privacy regulations Stay current with advances in optometric and medical care Requirements & Qualifications: Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities Proficiency in using diagnostic equipment and EMR systems Adaptability to changing situations and challenges in a fast-paced environment Previous experience in a healthcare setting Multiple languages are an asset Valid Class 5 License is an asset Degree or diploma in a health care profession including but not limited to MD, B.Sc., B.
