What you will do:

Pharmacists provide patient-centered pharmacy care as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a number of inpatient specialties across different campuses, as well as in ambulatory clinics.

About our team:

At The Ottawa Hospital, our cohesive team of dedicated professionals, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy assistants, and support staff, is dedicated to delivering compassionate treatment to both inpatients and ambulatory care patients. We prioritize patient safety by promoting and implementing advanced medication practices while remaining actively engaged in teaching and research. Pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy assistants work seamlessly together to foster a collaborative environment that enhances efficiency and patient care.

Pharmacists play an integral part of the team, from our collaboration with education institutions to train pharmacy students, residents, technicians, and assistants to participating in our continuing education program to further improve their own skills. Our pharmacists provide clinical services across various medical, surgical, and critical care areas, and are actively engaged in selected outpatient areas such as Thrombosis, Immunodeficiency, Bone Marrow Transplant, Oncology, and Nephrology.

Training and orientation:

You will engage in a comprehensive training and orientation program where you will be immersed in a live environment, working collaboratively with our experienced pharmacy staff and other healthcare experts to achieve patients' healthcare goals while maintaining continuity of care. You will experience the benefits of learning from institutional experts who are also practicing pharmacists. You will acquire knowledge, skills, and abilities in critical competency areas, including communication, health promotion, intra- and inter-professionalism, knowledge application, legal and ethical duties, patient care, and safety. What You Will Bring

Baccalaureate of Science in Pharmacy from a recognized university OR an equivalent combination of training and experience as determined by the Ontario College of Pharmacists; Registration as a Pharmacist with the Ontario College of Pharmacists with an unrestricted Part A license; Working knowledge of modern hospital care and drug therapy; In-depth understanding of use, composition and clinical effects of drugs; Ability to supervise/lead/coach/mentor; Experience working with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications; Superior written and verbal communication skills; Excellent teaching skills; Good interpersonal skills; Eligible to work in Canada.

You will stand out with:

Advanced Postgraduate Degree in Clinical Pharmacy from a recognized university OR Accredited Pharmacy Residency Program; Proficiency in English and French - oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
