Role Description The Pharmacist role at Shoppers Drug Mart is a full-time, on-site position based in Edmonton, AB. The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications accurately, reviewing prescriptions for clinical appropriateness, and providing patients with counseling on proper medication use, side effects, and health management. Daily tasks include conducting medication reviews, collaborating with prescribers and other healthcare professionals, maintaining accurate patient records, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and store policies. The Pharmacist also contributes to the safe and efficient operation of the pharmacy by overseeing pharmacy assistants, managing inventory, and supporting pharmacy-based clinical services, such as vaccinations and health consultations. This role requires a strong commitment to patient-centered care, attention to detail, and a focus on quality and safety. Qualifications Licensed Pharmacist in good standing with the applicable provincial regulatory body and eligibility to practice in Alberta. Demonstrated clinical pharmacy skills, including prescription assessment, medication therapy management, and patient counseling. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with patients, colleagues, and healthcare providers in a respectful, inclusive manner. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced community pharmacy environment, including prioritizing tasks and maintaining accuracy under pressure. Proficiency with pharmacy management systems, dispensing technology, and basic computer applications. Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards of practice, and professional guidelines related to community pharmacy and medication safety. Commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and participation in clinical programs such as immunization services. Experience in community pharmacy or retail healthcare settings is an asset; familiarity with Shoppers Drug Mart operations is beneficial.
