About the role
Job Overview
Safe Harbours is seeking compassionate, energetic, and reliable individuals to support youth in a structured staff model home environment.
This role focuses on implementing daily routines, individualized programming, and consistent support for youth through educational, recreational, social, and life-skills development activities. Successful candidates will be engaged, dependable, and committed to helping youth build stability, confidence, and skills for daily living.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement daily routines and individualized, evidence-informed programming for each youth in the home.
- Support youth with homework, chores, personal routines, and life-skills development.
- Incorporate physical, cooperative, creative, recreational, and educational activities into daily routines.
- Plan and participate in community-based recreational and social activities.
- Transport youth to appointments, school, employment, community activities, or other required destinations.
- Administer medication and maintain accurate medication documentation.
- Complete communication logs, shift notes, and other required documentation accurately and consistently.
- Support personal care routines, including bathing, hygiene, and other daily living needs as required.
- Assist with meal preparation and light housekeeping.
- Monitor household supplies and ensure the home has adequate groceries, hygiene products, cleaning supplies, and other required items.
- Conduct weekly shopping for the home as needed.
- Participate in agency-provided training, including training aligned with Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services requirements, and ongoing professional development.
- Perform physical tasks during shifts, including standing, sitting, walking, bending, and active engagement with youth.
- Complete additional duties as required to support the home and youth, and as assigned by the Case Manager.
Qualifications & Requirements
- CYW, DSW, PSW, CSW, Social Worker diploma/degree, or equivalent education is required.
- College diploma or university degree is required.
- Minimum 1 year of childcare or youth care experience is required.
- Experience working with youth between the ages of 11?18 is preferred.
- Experience working in the social services, community services, developmental services, or youth care sector is an asset.
- Training related to youth care, social services, community support, or behaviour management is an asset.
- ABA certification is considered an asset.
- Experience supporting youth with emotional, behavioural, and developmental needs is an asset.
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification is required.
- Valid driver?s licence and ability to transport youth as required.
- English language proficiency is required.

Schedule & Hours
This position requires year-round availability for rotating shifts, including:
- Days
- Afternoons
- Midnights
- Weekends
Available hours may include:
- Full-time: 35?40 hours per week
- Part-time: approximately 20 hours per week
- On-call: approximately 16 hours per week
Compensation
- $25.00 per hour, plus an additional $3.00 per hour enhancement.
- Statutory holiday pay provided in accordance with applicable employment standards.
