As a member of an inter-professional team, the role of the Registered Nurse (RN) at Providence Care is to deliver safe, effective, patient centred care to assigned patients in a non-acute setting as outlined by hospital policies and procedures and the Standards of Nursing Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario. Working at full scope of practice, the overall function of the RN is to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the clinical conditions and transition of the patient and to enhance the quality of life by meeting the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of each person.

Skills & Qualifications Required

Active, unrestricted license to practice with the College of Nurses of Ontario Current CPR certificate Nursing Diploma from an approved university or college BNSc preferred

Position Responsibilities

Demonstrates competencies and skills that are essential for the delivery of safe and effective patient care Evaluates the health status of patients with complexity of care needs and determines the initial plan of care in collaboration with the patient, family members and members of the inter-professional team Works with the inter-professional team in establishing priorities for care including preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitative aspects and participates in discharge planning Provides direct care to patients within his/her scope of practice in accordance with the College of Nurses standards, Regulated Health Professionals Act, the policies and procedures of Providence Care and all other relevant legislation Advocates for patients and their family as the major decision makers Protects the rights of patients and their family
