Location -   This role is in-person at North Campus, Edmonton.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank in Medical Imaging and Digital Health. We are seeking an innovative scholar at the intersection of artificial intelligence, computational biomechanics, and translational musculoskeletal research.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop a world-class, externally funded research program as well as industrial and clinical partnerships focused on musculoskeletal health, safety, mobility, and independence. Utilizing advanced medical imaging and machine learning, their research will address critical challenges in musculoskeletal health ranging from chronic metabolic diseases to extreme physiological environments, directly impacting older adults, people receiving care, and those undergoing rehabilitation. Of specific interest is the development of responsible, human-centred AI approaches - guided by clinical expertise and human feedback - that are inclusive, culturally aware for diverse communities, and closely aligned with societal values. To support this mission, the candidate is expected to lead innovative research, teaching, and outreach initiatives rooted in co-design with patients, healthcare providers, and community partners.

This role will be in the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
