School Psychologist at Learning Services (District)
Start Date: July 1, 2025
End Date: June 30, 2026 or upon return of incumbent
FTE: 1.0 (full time)
**NATURE OF THE ASSIGNMENT **
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work both independently and with a collaborative team of school psychologists, school-based teams and/or district personnel. The School Psychologist plays a supportive role in the identification, assessment, planning, reporting and evaluation process. Services are district-based and are designed to support students, school personnel and parents in enhancing academic, adaptive and social skills for students.
**SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS **
· Masters of Education in School Psychology.
· Registered with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Licensed School Psychologist.
· Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with teachers, parents, school administrators and community agencies.
· Demonstrated skill in completing psycho-educational assessments.
· Successful experience and demonstrated skill in curriculum modifications and appropriate teaching strategies for the inclusion of adolescents with special needs.
· Successful experience and demonstrated skill in designing Individual Education Plans for students with a full range of special needs.
· Successful experience and demonstrated skill in providing a variety of in-service workshops addressing issues in special education.
· High level of experience and knowledge in assessment literacy.
· Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of elementary and secondary school curriculum.
**GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS, ATTRIBUTES and EXPERIENCE **
· Strong commitment to excellence in supporting students with disabilities and diverse abilities.
· Demonstrated ability to design and implement a variety of assessment practices to measure and monitor student progress effectively.
· Strategies to identify learning difficulties and implement effective intervention to maximize academic success.
· Demonstrated successful experience supporting the success of all learners in an inclusive environment.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Excellent oral communications, written communication, and group facilitation skills.
· Superior work ethic and social emotional competencies, excellent reflective judgment, and commitment to building effective learning communities.
· Comprehensive understanding of curriculum.
· Confidence and proficiency in using instructional organizers, concepts, and strategies that actively engage all students in learning.
· Ability to positively influence instruction, curriculum, assessment, and social-emotional learning practices in a collaborative environment.
· Knowledge and understanding of the application of relevant computer technologies to teaching and learning.
· Willingness to be involved in professional development, with an ongoing commitment to learn and implement new methodologies and strategies.
· Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and school personnel.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
· Certification by the BC Association of School Psychologists (BCASP).
· Membership in the BC Teacher Regulation Branch.
· A member of the North Vancouver Teachers’ Association and the BC Teachers’ Federation.
