About The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join McKesson's Technology Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services (PSaS) Data Architecture and Engineering organization. This role is pivotal in designing and implementing advanced data solutions, enabling the organization to leverage data-driven insights for strategic decision-making. The Senior Data Engineer will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, analysts, BI developers, and platform architects, to develop scalable, governed, and high-performance data products and pipelines. This position plays a critical role in modernizing our supply chain operations by facilitating rapid AI/ML experimentation, operationalizing proven use cases, and monetizing insights to drive business value.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. They should have at least seven years of extensive experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of building robust data solutions and products. A minimum of three years of experience in data architecture is required, demonstrating the ability to design enterprise-wide data solutions. Hands-on expertise with cloud platforms such as Azure, Databricks, and Snowflake data warehousing technologies is essential. Relevant certifications in cloud services, data modeling, and data management tools will be considered advantageous.

Responsibilities

Design and deploy cloud-native data applications and pipelines utilizing Azure and Databricks, facilitating advanced analytics and digital capabilities across pharmaceutical business domains. Manage offshore and nearshore teams to deliver validated, governed, and scalable data products, promoting robust metadata management, data lineage, and domain-driven design principles. Collaborate with data and platform architecture teams to ensure data product designs align with enterprise architecture standards and governance frameworks. Establish and enforce best practices for data quality, scalability, and system performance. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to global engineering teams to foster continuous improvement. Develop standardized dimensional models, ontologies, and semantic structures to ensure interoperability and consistency across various data domains. Apply AI-enabled Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices and automation techniques to improve system performance, reduce technical debt, and accelerate the delivery of data products. Drive seamless data integration across multiple platforms, champion modernization efforts through Azure-native technologies, and optimize workflows for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
