The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority is seeking a Sonographer to join the Diagnostic Imaging team at the Inuvik Regional Hospital in Inuvik.

About the Role Working closely with the Regional Manager, Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging and the Team Lead, Diagnostic Imaging, you'll perform a wide range of ultrasound examinations for adult and pediatric patients. Working independently with remote Radiologist support, you'll produce high-quality diagnostic images that support timely and accurate patient diagnoses while delivering compassionate, culturally safe care in a collaborative healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities Perform a broad range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including obstetrical, abdominal, pelvic, vascular, breast, cardiac, and pediatric imaging Review patient history, explain procedures, and produce accurate, high-quality diagnostic images for Radiologist interpretation Document examinations and maintain patient records using RIS and PACS systems Communicate abnormal findings when appropriate and collaborate with Physicians, Radiologists, and healthcare teams Ensure patient privacy, dignity, and culturally safe, relationship-based care throughout every examination Perform quality control procedures and assist with the maintenance of ultrasound equipment
Qualifications Required Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by: Successful completion of a Canadian Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program from an accredited institution Two (2) years of related experience, including first-, second-, and third-trimester obstetrical examinations Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Registration with Sonography Canada is required.
