Manager Family Health Health Services – Public Health Family Health Status: 1 Regular Full Time Salary Range: $120,401.00 – $150,501.00 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits, where applicable) Hiring Range: $120,401.00 – $135,451.00 per annum Work Mode: Hybrid *see below for more details about this work mode. Core public health functions are assessment and surveillance, health promotion and healthy policy development, health protection, disease prevention and emergency management. Who We Are: The Family Health division supports early childhood growth and development by ensuring Peel families can access programs, supports, and environments that build a strong foundation for lifelong health and wellbeing. In this role, you'll be reporting to the Director Family Health, you will drive the vision and performance of the Family Health Division at Peel Public Health. You will oversee a team of Supervisors dedicated to enhancing outcomes for families with young children, from preconception to school entry. What You'll Do: Responsible for the planning, development, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of programs and policies related to Healthy Growth and Development as outlined in the Ontario Public Health Standards, and the Peel Public Health Strategic Plan (2020-2029) Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviours, and proactively managing bias Ensures the strategic direction for the Corporation, Department and Division are integrated into the section including division specific implementation Prepare and manage work plans and identify performance targets to be achieved Develop, recommend and administer the budget for the section and ensure that the section’s expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations Recruit, coach, motivate, train and evaluate reporting staff while ensuring efficient and effective utilization of resources. Provide guidance on operational and human resource issues arising from supervisors and ensure consistent application of Regional Policies/Operational Procedures and relevant Collective Agreement(s) Develop and empower staff by giving regular feedback, providing development opportunities, strategic and operational direction, and encouraging staff’s participation in key decision-making processes, where appropriate Promote a client service-oriented culture and focus within programs and services Promote and implement evidence informed decision making within the section, lead change management processes and ensure that continuing education occurs to support this Engage with Public Health leadership to ensure that the departmental strategies, mandates, and programs are met Establish and maintain effective partnerships with organizational and community interest holders What You'll Need: Minimum of five (5) years of progressive management experience in a Public Health setting Thorough knowledge of Provincial legislation/standards relevant to public health; and health promotion theories and principles Skills and experience in program planning, implementation, and evaluation Strong knowledge of and experience with evidence informed decision-making and the ability to apply this knowledge to population health strategies Expert knowledge of population health principles and their use in strategy, programming, and policy development Expert knowledge of a range of public health interventions and ability to exercise judgment as to their application A satisfactory Level 1 Criminal Record Check obtained directly from a police station (third-party background checks will not be accepted) Your Skills & Abilities: Expertise in change management and customer/client engagement Excellent facilitation, negotiation and conflict management skills Proven leader with ability to motivate staff to produce effective results Polished interpersonal, communication, research and project/operational management skills Nice to have: A master’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. Master of Public Health, Master of Nursing, Master of Public Administration) from a recognized university is considered an asset Expertise in working in a unionized environment Perks @ Peel and why you will love working for us: Comprehensive Health, Dental, Vision benefit plan including psychological health, effective start date Automatic enrolment into OMERS pension plan (where applicable) Accrue Vacation on a monthly basis (where applicable) starting at 3 weeks per annum 3 Paid personal days and floating holidays Flexible hours supporting your wellness and wellbeing Annual performance review and merit increases based on performance (where applicable) Supportive leadership and a culture of respect and inclusion Access to tuition reimbursement (where applicable) and learning and development resources Be bold. Think big. Join us. Work Mode & Job Location: In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum of two days per week on-site is expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time. It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario.
