About the role
Barrhead and District Social Housing Association provides safe, affordable, quality housing for the well-being and independence of residents and tenants.
We are currently hiring for a permanent part time morning dietary aide 07 FTE.
12 week rotation of 5 on 5 off, 4 on 5 off. 5 on 4 off repeating 8 hour shifts. Hours 6:00am - 2:30 pm ( 2-15 min breaks and 30min lunch )
Duties include:
- Assist the Dietary Manager in meal planning and the preparation of food according to the Canada?s Food Guide, paying attention to individual needs of the residents.
- Serve meals in a professional and friendly manner assuring that residents have their desired portion of all available entrees.
- Setting up tables and cleaning up tables and chairs. Serving coffee, tea, water.
- Assist with rounds and "I'm OK" program.
- Carry out all housekeeping and kitchen duties as assigned, following procedures and policies.
- Work as a team to ensure the general organization and cleanliness of the kitchen and connecting areas ? walk-in cooler, freezer, storage areas, etc., to ensure they meet or exceed the Health Authority?s regulations and the Minimum Standards for Operation of Lodges.
- Be responsible for the completion of routine duties assigned by the Dietary Manager or cook on Shift.
- Participate as part of the staff team to ensure that a high standard of service is provided for the residents.
- Assist residents when necessary and ensure that residents are accounted for.
- Keep notes of any changes in dietary routines in resident files
- As part of the staff team, all employees are responsible for the health and safety of the residents in the Association.
- Check for supplies when needed. Notify the Dietary Manager if supplies are running low.
- Ensure the complete documentation and communication of all problems or problem areas that are identified during their work shift, resident or maintenance.
- Promote and adhere to the BDSHA Safety Program and Policies.
- Responsible for maintaining self-wellness and reduced absenteeism.
- Other duties assigned by the Cook on duty, Dietary Manager, or Chief Administrative Officer.
Qualifications:
- First Aid with CPR is required.
- High School diploma or a general education degree is preferred
- Post-secondary education in a recognized Food Services program is an asset
- Experience in the food service or hospitality industry area is an asset
- Completion of recognized food safety awareness program is required. (Possibility of training will be provided to employees once the probationary period has expired.)
- Knowledge of the Canada Food Guide, Alberta Food Regulation Act, The Alberta Supportive Living Accommodation Standards, and the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Knowledge, understanding, and empathy for the needs of residents
- First Aid
- This position involves lifting, standing, walking, twisting, bending, reaching throughout the shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
- MUST Have Clean Vulnerable Sector Check
- Barrhead and District Social Housing Association operates licensed supportive living facilities. All mandates implemented by Alberta Health are applicable and employees must adhere to them. During outbreaks employees are required to wear masks and eye protection .
