About the Role
The Patient Care Navigator is a healthcare professional responsible for coordinating patient access to specialty therapies within a virtual, clinic-based patient support program (PSP). Acting as a central liaison between patients, physicians, insurers, and internal teams, you will support therapy access, reimbursement navigation, and ongoing case management.
This role requires strong clinical knowledge and the ability to independently manage complex patient cases, ensuring timely, seamless access to biologic and specialty therapies.
What You’ll Do:
- Coordinate patient access to specialty medications, including biologics and biosimilars.
- Manage referrals and ensure complete, accurate documentation for reimbursement submissions.
- Partner with insurers and PSP teams to support prior authorization, special authorization, and funding approvals.
- Provide education to patients and healthcare providers on therapy options, disease states, and treatment pathways.
- Support physicians with reimbursement processes and therapy eligibility criteria.
- Track patient cases within PSP systems to ensure alignment with KPIs and service-level expectations.
- Coordinate treatment scheduling and collaborate with clinics and pharmacies to align therapy delivery.
- Monitor patient progress, therapy adherence, and therapy disruptions.
- Report adverse events in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, including reimbursement, operations, and clinical stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve patient experience and program efficiency.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Pharmacy, or related healthcare field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 4+ years of relevant professional experience in healthcare, patient services, or clinical program support.
- Experience supporting patient access, reimbursement, or patient support programs (PSPs).
- Strong understanding of public and private payer systems in Canada.
Preferred Skills / Experience:
- Experience with biologic or specialty therapies (e.g., oncology, immunology).
- Knowledge of prior authorization, reimbursement pathways, and appeals processes.
- Background in case management, infusion clinics, or specialty pharmacy.
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
- Experience using PSP systems, CRM tools, or healthcare platforms.
- Strong clinical assessment, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment.
Work Environment & Travel
- Fully remote role (Canada-wide).
- Occasional travel may be required for training or team meetings (minimal and infrequent).
