Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Manager Health Services, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the Clinical Practice Nurse - Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional registered nursing services for patients, including those with complex and unpredictable health needs. These services include independent nursing services, administration of prescribed medical treatments, a leadership role within the health care team, and coordination of patient care and discharge. PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THIS POSITION IS COMPRISED OF DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING CT/MRI/Angiography. NURSES WILL BE EXPECTED TO WORK IN ALL GEOGRAPHIC AREAS.

Note: Please be advised that there are staggered start and finish times for day and evening shifts on this unit: Day shifts are between the hours of 0700 and 1845 - Evening shifts are between the hours of 1415 and 2345 - There are also standby on call shifts on this unit.

Experience

Two (2) years recent Medical and/or Surgical and/or ICU and/or Emergency and/or Operating Room nursing experience required. Minimum two (2) years recent nursing experience with EKG and pressure monitoring required. Nurses currently working on the unit will be deemed qualified.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

Current CRNM registration required. Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred. Annual BLS Level C Registration/Re-Registration is required. Must have no contraindications that would limit the ability to perform in a magnetic field (e.g. Pacemaker, middle ear prosthesis, etc.). Adult Conscious Sedation/Procedural Sedation Education must be obtained when the opportunity is scheduled by the employer, or as otherwise mutually agreed to between the nurse and employer.

Qualifications And Skills

Demonstrated ability in establishing an I.V. required. Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA). If there are no applicants meeting the qualifications, the employer may consider an applicant who does not meet the above qualifications.
