About the role
motionball is a national not for profit organization that empowers young professionals to become leaders in their communities, raising funds and awareness for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation through integrated sport and social events.
Since inception motionball has proudly raised over $22 million for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation. We currently work with hundreds of volunteers to host over 50 events across the country. The motionball National Office is currently seeking our next intern to join the movement and help us support our events this Fall. POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking a driven and energetic self-starter for our current opening- Intern, Events. Reporting to a motionball Manager, Special Events, this position will mainly be responsible for providing support to execute a variety of top scale fundraising events across the country geared towards philanthropic young professionals and university students.
An honorarium provided at the end of the completed term.
RESPONSIBILITIES ● Assist with pre-event planning and coordination for key motionball initiatives, including city Marathon of Sport events, the motionballU program, #NoGoodWay, galas, and formal events ● Collaborate directly with the national events team to help execute high-impact event experiences across Canada ● Provide active onsite operational support during local events (where applicable) to ensure seamless execution ● Work with the team to update the motionball website, keeping event details, dates, and regional information current for participants ● Track, organize, and pack event inventory and supplies for distribution ● Handle core administrative tasks, including shipping logistics, sorting materials, and maintaining organized event inventory ● Assist with volunteer communications, helping keep volunteers informed and engaged ● Offer flexible cross-functional support across all motionball departments to assist staff with daily priorities
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS ● Currently enrolled in University or College program, or a recent graduate looking to gain experience in fundraising or events ● Experience in event management or fundraising ● Excellent written and oral communication skills; must be able to interact with the public in a professional and courteous manner ● Ability to adapt to a fast paced and small team environment ● Keen analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to take initiative ● Ability to multitask, work in a high-pressure environment and meet required deadlines ● Strong problem solving and strategic thinking ● Work outside of typical office hours, as needed per event
