This position follows a hybrid work schedule with a minimum of 2 days onsite, though this requirement may vary based on business and operational needs. Primary Focus We are seeking to fill a current opening on our Science and Methods team. The Manager, Science and Methods, is responsible for science and methods functions within the Scientific Evidence, Methodologies, and Resources business unit. These functions span a broad range of health technology assessment (HTA) disciplines, including deliberation, ethics, quantitative methods, real-world evidence (RWE), scientific advice, and qualitative research. The manager will bring a strong foundation in at least 1 of these areas, combined with the leadership capability to effectively manage and support functions beyond their primary area of technical expertise. What do the daily responsibilities look like? On any given day, the Manager, Science and Methods will: contribute to and manage the team responsible for the definition, development, implementation, resourcing, and continual refinement of science and health technology methods, standards, processes, and guidelines, and their application in HTA, to ensure scientific credibility, consistency, quality, and methodological rigour be accountable for the activities that advance this function, in alignment with strategic direction and organizational purpose, as outlined by the CDA-AMC strategic plan, annual business plan, and corporate performance measurement and evaluation initiatives contribute to the advancement of HTA methods through the generation of reports and publications, including but not limited to key strategic initiatives papers, whitepaper briefs, methodology reports, guidelines, policies, manuscripts, and presentations collaborate with other business units to optimize processes and ensure appropriate quantitative, RWE, qualitative, and/or ethics methods support be accountable for internal and external communications about quantitative, RWE, qualitative, and/or ethics methods, standards, processes, and tools mentor and develop capabilities for those who directly report to this position contribute to education and training on HTA methods (e.g., quantitative, RWE, and ethics) to internal teams and external users of HTA demonstrate leadership in internal and international HTA collaborations to align methods, standards, and processes with best practices. Is this the right role for you? The Manager, Science and Methods will likely have: a graduate or postgraduate degree in a health-related discipline (e.g., statistics, biostatistics, clinical epidemiology, pharmacy, public health, social sciences, psychology) with 2 or more years of relevant experience with quantitative (e.g., clinical interventional research, including patient-reported outcomes, observational studies, and RWE), qualitative, mixed-methods, or ethics research in a relevant health sector; additional related experience may serve as a suitable equivalent for the completion of postsecondary education broad knowledge and experience in HTA methods, including some expertise in at least 1 of quantitative research design and methodologies, RWE, or ethics knowledge of the appraisal methods and standards used in the development and application of drug and health technology assessment strong grounding in evidence-based medicine, critical appraisal, and evidence synthesis, with awareness of emerging areas for advancement a broad understanding of the health care systems in Canada, as well as the role of HTA a minimum of 2 years of experience in people leadership, with a proven ability to develop, engage, and empower others while navigating competing priorities and a changing environment the ability to envision future direction, build actionable plans, prioritizes effectively, and adapt approaches to deliver on commitments in a shifting environment the ability to contribute to the development, refinement, and advancement of methods as they pertain to HTA the ability to manage, facilitate, and champion change, modifying approaches or direction in response to priorities and the external environment the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships, and to engage with others from a place of trust and respect the ability to develop and maintain your own capabilities, including but not limited to current knowledge of national and international programs, initiatives, and trends related to HTA and evidence synthesis approaches advanced oral and written communication skills with an ability to listen, problem solve, negotiate, and facilitate discussions to achieve outcomes.
