Why is this role important?

CIHI’s Indicator Research and Development team develops and reports on new indicators of health system performance for jurisdictions across the country. This includes work on the Shared Health Priorities portfolio, with a focus on the Aging with Dignity project aimed at reporting a suite of 6 indicators for this priority area. As a co-op student you will be involved in a variety of activities that support priority projects for our department, that help drive CIHI’s overall mandate to deliver on better data, better decisions, for healthier Canadians. This is a unique opportunity to make use of your literature review and analytical skills, knowledge of the health care system, epidemiology, and statistics or research methods capabilities.

What you'll do

  • Participate in the refining and reporting of health indicators, including supporting release activities, stakeholder engagement and user experience testing.
  • Conduct literature reviews, prepare written summaries of findings, and present to indicator teams.
  • Contribute to client support, participate in discussions regarding analytical issues and collaborate with other CIHI teams.

What you'll bring to the table

  • Working towards a graduate (Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Administration, Health Sciences, Health Informatics) program requiring Co-op as part of educational requirement
  • Strong experience carrying out literature reviews;
  • Strong organizational skills and proven ability to work independently;
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills;
  • An interest in contributing to a strong team environment,
  • Knowledge of software programs including Microsoft Office suite; familiarity of programming languages such as SAS, R or Python would be an asset.
