What You Offer:

Ideally, you have extensive experience working with children, youth and young adults or vulnerable individuals in a health care setting, school, or home setting. You have experience and are confident in supporting individuals who may exhibit behaviours that limit their ability to access or participate in community. You have experience and are confident in providing personal care and medical care needs. The Position:

This is a part-time permanent. The position focuses on delivering engaging, meaningful programming that fosters genuine relationships and a strong sense of belonging among participants. The program runs Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM. This position is located in Erin Ridge, St. Albert.

The Community Specialist II (CS II) will be reporting to the assigned Program Supervisor. The CS II is a highly experienced direct support role, typically relating to more complex and specialized situations, behaviours, or environments. They work front-line and are pivotal to the creation of a safe, caring, and community-enriched life for the individuals and families who hire us. Thoughtful programming planning and implementation support participants to connect with their communities – establishing real relationships and creating meaningful days and lives. The conscientious CSII will act with integrity, be open to growth, live our purpose, cultivate teamwork, and put forth an extraordinary effort to empower people with disabilities and their families to grow, succeed, and belong.

Provide direct care and purposeful support with individuals identified as exhibiting behaviours that may limit access to community in an engaging, fun, and safe environment

Implement person-centered and behaviour plans designed to support and assist participants

Facilitate inclusion for individuals with complex and/or specialized situations

Deliver and adapt programs and services in an engaging and meaningful manner that imparts growth, success, and belonging

Foster genuine relationships promoting dignity, personal interests and identities

Empower individuals to create meaningful days and achieve their goals

Communicate effectively with integrity to individuals, families, and co-workers

Assist, support, and encourage individuals to advocate on their own behalf and achieve their personal goals through various development activities

Maintain timely, accurate and professional documents in accordance with AdaptAbilities policies and procedures

Perform other job-related activities as required

Qualifications

Minimum education requirement of a High School Diploma and a minimum of 2-3 years of related experience; or graduation from an appropriate post-secondary program with a Certificate or Diploma. Programs include Disability Studies, Human Services, Social Work, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, Psychology, Sociology, or Education or Education Assistant

Hands-on experience working with individuals with complex behaviors which limit their inclusion in community and/or programs

Alignment with AdaptAbilities core purpose and core values

Clear Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check are required upon hire

Intermediate First Aid Certification CPR Level C and AED is required upon hire

Experience with personal care is a requirement

Medication Administration Certificate is a requirement

Candidates that are extroverted, active, and confident are preferred

The home has a dog, the ideal candidate should be comfortable with dogs

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol are an asset

Compensation $22.86 to $24.62/ hour depending on experience and education
