Job Description: The Health Educator - Senior position specializes in stimulating, coordinating, and delivering oral health prevention and promotion activities in the community. This position is responsible for a leadership role in the community related to community development, advocacy, and public relations. This position is under the supervisor of the Manager who is responsible to the Director
Human Resources Exemption: No
Education
- Graduate from a recognized Dental Therapy program
Licenses
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
Other Education and Training
- Graduate from a recognized Dental Hygenist program is also acceptable
Competencies
- Basic - Organizational skills
- Basic - Communication skills
- Basic - Time management skills
- Basic - Computer skills
Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to interact in a positive and culturally appropriate manner
- Knowledge in oral health and overall health relationship
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Knowledge in population health promotion approaches and community development
- Advocates delivery of culturally safe, responsive & people-centered healthcare
- Ability to diagnose dental decay/abscesses and identify oral abnormalities
- Knowledge of current scientific info/research/best practice in oral health
- Knowledge in population health promotion and its relationship to health status
