POSITION: Regular Part-Time Residence Support Worker
LOCATION: Burnaby, BC
SALARY: 25.95/hour
HOURS: 30 hours/week
SCHEDULE: Thursday, Friday Saturday & Sunday (3:30pm-11pm)
Responsibilities:
- Support people in a shared-living home to have positive control of their home and to be active members of their community.
- Support people one-to-one and in small group settings.
- Ensuring that individuals are connected to friends and family.
- Providing individuals with the opportunity to make meaningful choices.
- Encouraging and recognizing individuals' contributions.
- Ensuring that individuals are safe and to promote their health and well-being.
- Assist individuals to gain knowledge and experience to enhance their independence and/or ability to participate in their community.
Qualifications:
- The ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently is essential.
- Experience and specialized training related to autism, medical needs and /or challenging behaviors is an asset.
- ASL knowledge & ability to use alternative communication systems would be an asset.
- Working knowledge of computers/mobile apps is necessary.
- Graduation from a Community College with an appropriate diploma or certificate in Human Services OR an equivalent of education and experience.
- Valid unrestricted BC Class 5 Driver's License required.
