Position Title

Keaton’s House Capital Campaign Volunteer Committee Member

Reports To

Senior Lead, Development Strategy

Location:

Local community-based: Hamilton, Niagara, Burlington, Guelph, Brantford, Kitchener/Waterloo; in-person engagement required

Time Commitment

Flexible, with availability for occasional events, outreach shifts, and committee meetings (approx. 5–10 hours/month)

Position Summary

Keaton’s House is launching a public capital campaign to raise funds for our vital work in the community. We are seeking passionate, trustworthy, and community-minded individuals to serve as Volunteer Committee Members to help us reach our fundraising goals.

As part of our Capital Campaign Committee, you will be a key ambassador for Keaton’s House—engaging with local businesses and community members, accepting donations, participating in local events, and helping spread the word about our build.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a Public Ambassador: Represent Keaton’s House with professionalism and enthusiasm in the community. Speak on behalf of the organization at local events, cheque presentations, and community gatherings. Share the story and mission of Keaton’s House effectively and compellingly. Fundraising & Outreach: Participate in grassroots outreach, including door-to-door visits to local businesses and organizations to solicit donations, in-kind support, and event sponsorships. Encourage creative fundraising ideas and events in support of the campaign. Follow up with contacts to cultivate long-term community partnerships.

Donation Handling: Accept and securely transport donations to the appropriate development or office staff. Maintain accurate records of donations received while respecting donor confidentiality. Team Collaboration: Attend committee meetings as scheduled (in-person or virtual). Collaborate with fellow volunteers to coordinate outreach strategies and share updates. Provide feedback from the community to help improve campaign messaging and approach. Desired Skills & Qualities

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Comfortable with public speaking and representing a cause Passion for community building and the mission of Keaton’s House Trustworthy, reliable, and organized Outgoing, energetic, and self-motivated Experience in fundraising, sales, community engagement, or volunteer work (an asset, not required)

Training & Support Provided

Orientation to Keaton’s House, its mission, and the capital campaign Training in key messages, fundraising etiquette, and outreach strategies Materials and talking points for public engagement Ongoing support from the Development and Volunteer teams
