Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience. Tasks: Collect samples and perform other laboratory tests. Handle, restrain and care for animals undergoing treatment and surgery. Produce diagnostic radiographs. Assist veterinarian before, during and after surgery. Prepare and administer medications and vaccines under direction of veterinarian. Administer treatments as prescribed by veterinarian. Counsel clients on animal health care. Perform routine animal dental procedures and assist veterinarians with animal dentistry. Provide nursing care and rehabilitation therapy for animals. Provide wound and bandage care. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : Registration by a provincial or territorial, or regional association as Registered Animal Health Technologist, Registered Veterinary Technician.
