Represent the voice of the persecuted in your church community
As a church representative, you act as a contact person for Open Doors in your area, and share information about the situation of persecuted Christians in your own church and surrounding area. You can encourage your acquaintances to pray, as well as share and display Open Doors resources.
Vision
Open Doors Canada (ODC) has a vision to see the persecuted church on the agenda and heart of every church in Canada. While we care for the needs around us in our communities, our concerns should include standing with our persecuted family around the world them in prayer and support. We are looking for our Church Reps to become a positive influence in their existing church community, helping to raise the profile of the persecuted church and keeping the church members informed on what is happening in the world and ways they can pray. It is essential that this is done with the support of the church leadership.
Responsibilities and Expectations
We are hoping all Church Reps will be able to:
Encourage individuals in their church to sign up to receive Open Doors Canada communications and promote following ODC on all social media platforms. Be an encouragement to their church leaders by highlighting ODC church resources that might support church activity. Inform and inspire their church to be praying regularly for the persecuted church (either in main services or prayer groups). Keep their church up to date about ODC campaigns and ask the church to sign our petition forms. Inspire and motivate members within the church to become supporters of the ministry through praying, giving, volunteering or campaigning. Encourage church leadership to invite an ODC Speaker to speak at their church Be prepared to share their own experiences and learnings from the persecuted church.
Person Specification
Passionate for God and the persecuted church Good knowledge of, and enthusiastic about, the ministry of Open Doors Understands the importance of prayer, Bible reading, church participation and faith building. Comes with recommendation from members of church leadership Can motivate people and communicate well what we do A people person who enjoys mingling with others An active part of your church community Can speak (announcements and stories) publicly if needed Sits on a missions/outreach team at their church where applicable. Able to spot opportunities to make a difference and make the most of them Not intimidated by indifference; eager to see more Christians on their knees in prayer and on their feet in action for our persecuted family.
Competencies
Able to connect with people from all walks of life Able to access communication points through WhatsApp and use Zoom for meetings Able to motivate others in praying for the persecuted church. Adept at public speaking if needed
Accountability and Resources
As a Church Rep you will receive support and encouragement from the ODC Strategic Engagement Lead. They will be able to guide and encourage you, as well as sharing what else is going on internationally.

About Open Doors Canada
Open Doors has been strengthening Christians since 1955 when our founder, Brother Andrew, first went behind the Iron Curtain to visit Christians living under communism. Today, we work in more than 70 countries, strengthening Christians by providing Bibles, training, emergency relief, trauma counselling and other help so that they can remain as salt and light for Jesus Christ.
