Reporting to the Vice President, Patient Care & Deputy Chief Nursing Executive, the Director, Professional Practice, Infection Prevention & Control (IPAC) & Chief Clinical Information Practice Officer (CCIPO) is a key member of our clinical leadership team, providing strategic leadership across Professional Practice, Infection Prevention & Control, Clinical Education and Clinical Information Practice.
This is a unique executive leadership opportunity to influence care delivery across an integrated health network by advancing professional excellence, strengthening patient safety, leading innovation and ensuring digital transformation is grounded in clinical practice.
Position Summary
As Director, you will provide strategic leadership to advance evidence-informed practice, interdisciplinary collaboration and quality improvement while fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
In your role as WRHN's Chief Clinical Information Practice Officer, you will bridge clinical practice and digital transformation—partnering with Digital Services, Information Technology, Health Informatics and physician leaders to ensure technology enhances clinician workflows, supports exceptional patient care and enables better outcomes.
You will lead through influence, collaboration and vision, supporting a team of experienced managers and professional leaders while helping shape the future of healthcare delivery across the organization.
Responsibilities At a Glance
Strategic Leadership
Provides strategic leadership for Professional Practice, Infection Prevention & Control (IPAC), Clinical Education and Clinical Information Practice across WRHN. Leads enterprise initiatives that advance clinical excellence, patient safety, innovation and technology-enabled care. Builds strategic partnerships across the organization and broader healthcare system to drive transformation and organizational performance.
Professional Practice & Clinical Excellence
Leads the Professional Practice portfolio, advancing evidence-informed care, interdisciplinary collaboration and professional governance. Establishes organizational standards, policies and frameworks that support high-quality, patient-centred care. Partners with operational leaders to optimize models of care, workforce capability and clinical excellence.
Clinical Information Practice & Digital Partnership
Provides leadership for Clinical Information Practice, ensuring digital transformation is grounded in clinical practice and clinician needs. Partners with Digital Services, Information Technology, Health Informatics and physician leadership to guide technology-enabled care. Champions clinician engagement, workflow optimization and digital innovation to improve patient and provider outcomes.
Infection Prevention, Patient Safety & Quality
Provides leadership for the Infection Prevention & Control portfolio, promoting a culture of patient safety and quality improvement. Ensures infection prevention strategies, surveillance and organizational preparedness align with regulatory and accreditation standards. Partners across the organization to advance quality, reduce risk and strengthen patient safety.
People Leadership & Organizational Capability
Leads and develops Managers and professional leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous learning. Advances workforce capability through clinical education, leadership development and succession planning. Champions an inclusive, high-performing environment that supports innovation and professional excellence.
Financial & Operational Stewardship
Provides leadership for the operational and financial performance of assigned portfolios. Leads business planning, resource optimization and performance improvement initiatives that support sustainable, high-quality care.
Position Requirements
Master's degree in Nursing, Health Administration or a related health discipline (Doctorate preferred). Current registration in good standing with a regulated health profession in Ontario. Certified Health Executive (CHE) designation is considered an asset. Significant progressive leadership experience within a complex healthcare environment. Experience leading Professional Practice and Infection Prevention & Control portfolios. Experience advancing quality improvement, patient safety, clinical governance and organizational transformation. Knowledge of Clinical Information Practice, digital health or clinical informatics is considered a strong asset. Exceptional relationship-building, communication and strategic leadership skills.
