This position is anticipated to extend from September 8, 2026 until December 18, 2026, subject to availability of work and funding.
Southwestern Public Health is currently looking to fill one (1) student position to support the Healthy Communities team. This opportunity provides a chance for the successful individual to collaborate with the Oxford OHT and use their policy analysis and program management skills. In addition to learning from our public health team, the successful individual will be offered a hands-on experience related to community mobilization, partnerships and collaboration, healthy public policy, identification and application of best practices and evidence, and report writing.
Essential Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s program focusing on population health, policy and/or research and evaluation
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others in a mentored team setting.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in an environment of competing demands.
- Excellent computer skills specifically in the utilization of Microsoft Office Suite including: Word, Excel and Power Point Skills.
- Effective research abilities.
- Must be capable of establishing positive interpersonal relationships and able to work as an effective multidisciplinary team member.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to self-reflection, professional growth and development.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable access to an insured working vehicle.
Terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Employment Agreement.
Salary Range: $25/hr
Will receive vacation pay each pay period.
A criminal reference check completed within the last six (6) months from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPID), inclusive of a Judicial Matters Check, will be required of the successful candidate.
Immunization Requirements: Fully vaccinated against COVID-19, are able to provide proof of immunization, and acknowledgement to follow Southwestern Public Health's policies and processes related to COVID-19 management in the workplace.
