About the role

Reporting to the Director of Outreach, the Encampment Outreach Support provides proactive, trauma-informed outreach and support to individuals experiencing houseless. Through consistent presence in encampments and public spaces, the Encampment Outreach Support works as part of the Regina Street Team to build trusting relationships and help individual navigate complex systems, navigate crises and access harm reduction supplies. The role works collaboratively with community partners and government agencies to reduce barriers to care and supports pathways toward long-term housing and wellbeing. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESEncampment Response (30%) Service Navigation and Advocacy (25%) Street Outreach and Community Engagement (20%) Crisis Response and Harm Reduction (15%) Administration (10%) EducationBachelor's degree in social work, Justice Studies, or other human service field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience Experience2+ year's experience working with the complex needs of people experiencing homelessness Experience working with Indigenous peoples and cultures and an understanding of the ongoing impacts of colonialism on Indigenous peoples Proven crisis intervention skills Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesKnowledge of the child welfare system, income assistance programs, criminal justice system, trauma informed care, and family violence is essential Accurate record-keeping ability and basic computer skills Strong communication skills Full competition details: https://ywcaregina.com/careers/
