Are you a compassionate, reliable, and community-focused professional with a passion for providing quality care? Squamish Nation is seeking a Health Care Assistant (Casual) to join the Yúustway Health and Wellness – Home and Community Care team.

In this role, you will provide essential, culturally safe, and client-centered care to community members in their homes. You will support clients with daily living activities, promote independence, and contribute to holistic wellness across all stages of life.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Provide personal care supports including bathing, grooming, dressing, and hygiene.
  • Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (iADLs).
  • Support client mobility, transfers, and safe use of equipment (e.g., lifts).
  • Follow established Client Care Plans and direction from Nurse Assessors.
  • Provide homemaking support including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment.
  • Assist with meal preparation and support proper nutrition.
  • Observe and report changes in client condition to the care team.
  • Provide caregiver relief and emotional support to clients and families.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to reporting requirements.
  • Promote cultural safety, respect, and client dignity in all interactions.
  • Participate in team collaboration, community events, and continuous quality improvement.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Health Care Assistant Certificate from a recognized program.
  • Registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry (or eligibility).
  • Strong understanding of client-centered care, aging, and common health conditions.
  • Knowledge of cultural safety and humility when working in an Indigenous community.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and observational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing client needs.
  • High level of empathy, patience, and professionalism.
  • Standard First Aid & Level C CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Food Safe Level 1 and WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Willingness to travel between North/West Vancouver and Squamish Valley.
  • Ability to work flexible, on-call shifts including evenings and weekends.

Wage Rate: $28.00 - $30.00
