Who We Are NETES is a not-for-profit Indigenous organization supporting the success of Indigenous people in Winnipeg. We offer adult education, skills training and employment services, along with wrap-around services such as daycare, student housing, and health and wellness programming. The Opportunity Kookum’s Place is an Indigenous-led, community-centred early learning program dedicated to supporting children and families through relationship-based care that honours Indigenous culture, values, and ways of knowing. Our approach is rooted in respect, connection, and belonging, with a strong emphasis on play-based and land-based learning. We are seeking a passionate, caring, and community-minded Early Childhood Educator II (ECE II) to join our team, Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM, and may occur within or outside the Employer’s core hours of operation, as required. Key Responsibilities Create a safe, caring, and engaging environment for children. Plan and support play-based learning activities. Build positive relationships with children, families and team members. Support children’s emotional, social and developmental needs using positive guidance approaches. Maintain a clean, organized and culturally respectful classroom environment. Support daily routines including meals, hygiene, rest periods, transitions, and outdoor play. Observe and support children’s learning and development. Ensure children’s safety and well-being while following licensing regulations, safety, health and organizational policies. Participate in team meetings, professional development, and engaging learning opportunities. Maintain required certifications and professional standards related to early childhood education. Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Manitoba ECE II Certification. Diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized university or college. Current Infant/Child First Aid and CPR Certification Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry required.
Experience Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a childcare or early learning environment preferred. Experience supporting children with diverse emotional, developmental, or behavioural needs is considered an asset. Experience working with Indigenous communities and culturally diverse environments.
Skills and Abilities Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive, respectful relationships with children, families and team members. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills. Understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. Knowledge of culturally responsive and inclusive childcare practices. Reliable, adaptable, patient and professional in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
Physical & Emotional Demands Ability to actively engage with children throughout the workday, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and participating in indoor and outdoor activities. Ability to lift and carry children and equipment and supplies as needed up to 40lbs. Ability to maintain a high level of supervision, awareness and attentiveness in a busy childcare environment. Ability to respond calmly and effectively during emergency or emotionally heightened situations Ability to support children experiencing emotional, behavioural or developmental challenges with patience, empathy and professionalism. Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities and daily routines. Ability to maintain emotional resilience, positive relationships and professionalism throughout the day.
Additional Requirements NETES requires a clear and satisfactory Criminal Record Check before employment begins. All checks must be dated within three (3) months of the start date.

Employment Services Employment Counsellors assist Indigenous clients to find employment and/or enter education and training through career exploration, employment readiness, job search and referrals to education and training. Staffing Solutions offers customized employment assistance to both clients and employers to ensure a positive employment outcome.
Education and Training CAHRD’s education and post-secondary training services are delivered through the Neeginan Learning & Literacy Centre (NLLC), Aboriginal Community Campus (ACC) and the Neeginan College of Applied Technology. Synergies between all of these programs provide Aboriginal learners with a seamless transition from literacy and upgrading, through post-secondary training and to sustainable employment. CAHRD provides a holistic approach to education through individualized Support Services, including access to employment, academic and personal counselling. We also offer student housing, on-site subsidized daycare, and health and wellness activities.
Aboriginal People with Disabilities Program Employment Counsellors offer assistance to urban Indigenous people with disabilities. These customized services include access to employment or training programs, and referrals to outside agencies with disability programs and services.
