Role Description The Occupational Therapist is a full-time, on-site role based in Montreal, QC. In this position, the professional assesses patients’ functional abilities and limitations, develops individualized treatment plans, and implements evidence-informed interventions to promote independence and quality of life. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting standardized assessments, providing therapeutic activities, recommending and training in adaptive equipment, and collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, rehabilitation staff, and families. The Occupational Therapist documents clinical findings, maintains accurate patient records, and participates in interprofessional care planning and discharge planning. The role may involve working with diverse patient populations, including pediatric and adult clients, and contributing to quality improvement, teaching, and research initiatives within the MUHC. Qualifications Clinical expertise in Occupational Therapy, including assessment, treatment planning, and intervention design. Foundational understanding of Medicine and healthcare systems to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams. Strong Rehabilitation skills, with experience in functional recovery, adaptive strategies, and assistive technologies. Excellent Communication abilities for interacting with patients, families, and colleagues, and for clear clinical documentation. Competence or interest in Pediatrics, with the ability to adapt interventions to children and youth when required. Recognized degree in Occupational Therapy and eligibility for licensure/registration with the appropriate provincial regulatory body. Experience in hospital or acute care settings is an asset, along with familiarity with evidence-based practice and outcome measurement. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment, demonstrate cultural sensitivity, and manage a varied caseload.
