Job Description Summary: Duties/Responsibilities
Contributing to the development and delivery of programing related to student success and the Student Life department. Planning and implementing initiatives to the campus community via engagement activities, events, social media and other forms of outreach. Shifts at the Student Life Hub information desk to promote engagement in student life initiative and refer students to appropriate resources at the university. Serve as an ambassador for Student Life department. Assist in developing peer based programing and events on topics related to student life including learning success, creating community, well-being, sexual violence, student rights and responsibilities, equity, diversity and inclusion etc. Performing related administrative tasks. Supporting research projects and recording data as needed. Contribute to the collection of information to develop initiatives to enhance student involvement, identify programming gaps and promote opportunities for engagement. Support the department with event organization and logistics. Update website content and other communications materials as needed. Participate in trainings and weekly meetings with supervising staff.
Job Description: REQUIREMENTS: Experience working with PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. Comfortable with public speaking. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Experience with marketing through social media will be considered an asset. Experience with event organization considered an asset. Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
Additional Details: Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for student employment, a student must be in good academic standing with the University. Good standing is defined as having a GPA of 2.0 and no current notations regarding academic standing, student conduct or outstanding fees per policy S2003-003 Academic Standing, a copy of which can be found on the University’s website.
Domestic students must be enrolled in, and maintain, a minimum of two or more (6 credits) courses at Capilano University throughout the work term; international students must: during the fall and winter semesters, be enrolled in, and maintain, a minimum of 9 credits at Capilano University throughout the work term; have a valid Study Permit.
Student employees are not required to be enrolled in courses during the summer term to maintain eligibility for employment; however, they must have been enrolled in a minimum of six credits during the preceding spring term. Furthermore, international students must abide by the terms of their work or study visas.
Students who complete their studies in the spring or summer terms may have their appointments extended until August 31 of the same year; students who complete their studies in the fall term may have their appointments extended until December 31 of the same year.
