WAGE RATE: $37.071 – $38.157
Reporting to the Manager, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) works collaboratively in an inter-disciplinary team to provide patient care within their professional scope of practice while working in the Emergency department.
Qualifications
Required:
Ontario College of Nurses registration
Current certification in or willingness to obtain:
BCLS
Two (2) years recent acute care nursing experience
Current understanding of the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scales (CTAS)
Physical Assessment Course or equivalent
CCU 1 or willingness to obtain in six (6) months
Code White (CPI certification) or willingness to obtain
Ability to work at full scope of practice as defined by the Emergency Program, ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
Demonstrated Competence in the performance of the following skills: ECG, arrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy (including maintenance, IV starts and medication administration), care and maintenance of CVADs, phlebotomy, splinting, oral, IM, sc medication administration, wound care, urinary catheterization, suture/staple removal, measuring for crutches, application of orthopedic immobilization devices
POCT, CBGM, urine testing and urine pregnancy testing
Power chart and order entry
Excellent organizational and patient assessment skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills
Commitment to continuing education and professional development
Ability and willingness to work all shifts
Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
