The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority is seeking an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Consultant, Speech Language Pathology to join the Rehabilitation and Indigenous Wellness team in Yellowknife.
If you're an experienced Speech Language Pathologist with expertise in Autism Spectrum Disorder, this is an opportunity to provide territorial leadership while making a lasting impact on children and families across the Northwest Territories. You'll combine advanced clinical practice with mentorship, education, and program development to help strengthen ASD services in communities throughout the North.
About the Role Based in Yellowknife, you'll collaborate with regional rehabilitation teams, healthcare professionals, educators, and families to support children with suspected or diagnosed ASD across all NWT communities. Through consultation, coaching, outreach, and system navigation, you'll help develop individualized intervention plans, build local capacity, and promote evidence-based practices that improve outcomes for children and their families. The role also includes travel to communities throughout the Northwest Territories.
Key Responsibilities Provide clinical leadership and expert consultation in Speech Language Pathology services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Mentor rehabilitation teams, educators, healthcare providers, and caregivers in evidence-based ASD assessment and intervention Collaborate with families and multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and monitor individualized intervention plans Deliver training, education, and outreach to strengthen ASD services and local clinical capacity across the territory Support program development, research, and quality improvement initiatives to advance ASD services throughout the NWT Coordinate with regional, territorial, and out-of-territory partners to ensure integrated, family-centred care
Qualifications Required Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by: A Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology Five (5) years of experience in a pediatric setting working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder Preference will be given to candidates with advanced autism training.
Additional requirements include: Registration with a provincial Speech Language Pathology regulatory body or certification with Speech-Language & Audiology Canada (SAC) Ability and willingness to travel to remote communities Proof of immunization in keeping with current public health practices Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
