The Occupational Therapist Assistant/Physical Therapist Assistant (OTA/PTA) implements the goals of the supervising team in a functional manner, re-enforces strategy training, ensures client safety and helps the clients progress over time through repeated practice in a variety of real-world environments (home, school, pool, gym, community, workplace). You will treat individuals experiencing various neurological, orthopedic disorders, and mental health injuries. You will collaborate with supervising therapists to assist clients with establishing and meeting meaningful goals in a variety of settings including client homes, their local community, community centres, gyms, public libraries, etc. within the Greater Vancouver area. You will assist in the delivery of individualized treatment plans based on analysis and clinical reasoning of supervising therapists. You will liaise with a variety of community partners and rehab professionals (OTs, PTs, SLPs, SWs, etc.) to facilitate client goals and independence. QualificationsQualifications: Physiotherapy Assistant/Occupational Therapy Assistant diploma from a recognized community college, or other equivalent Two years of relevant OTA/PTA experience is required Knowledge of the rehabilitation approach to client care and the roles of OT, PT and SLP Experience with rehabilitation services (hospital, clinic, community), pool therapy and/or personal training certifications are all assets Excellent computer skills (i.e. ability to work in MS Word and Outlook) Great interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work with different personality types A valid Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle Please note you will be fully supported by Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Social Workers and other allied health professionals.
