About X Helping Hands

Non-profit Organizations
2-10 employees
Founded in 2022

Founded in 2022 at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, 'X Helping Hands' began as a grassroots initiative to support newcomers adjusting to life in rural communities. Over time, it has grown into a broader community-based initiative that uplifts newcomers, racialized individuals, and community members through connection, collaboration, and social impact.

At X Helping Hands, we believe in the power of shared experiences and collective action. Through storytelling, skill-sharing, and civic engagement, we create opportunities for individuals to connect, learn, and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Our storytelling projects amplify real voices and lived experiences, building empathy and understanding across cultures and identities.

Today, we are a federally incorporated NPO and our work aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting inclusion, quality education, gender equality, decent work, and sustainable communities. From hosting community dialogues and cultural workshops to highlighting personal journeys of resilience and belonging, X Helping Hands strives to reduce isolation and strengthen social bonds.

What started as a local initiative in Antigonish has now extended its reach to Pictou County and other parts of Nova Scotia, connecting people from diverse backgrounds, especially BIPOC and community members from rural parts of the province, through acts of leadership, learning, and compassion.

Founded by Tavneet Kaur and co-founded by Bhavpreet Singh Arneja, X Helping Hands continues to evolve with the energy of community members, volunteers, and partners who share our vision of an inclusive, equitable, and connected Nova Scotia.
