Job Description & Requirements
We are seeking a qualified Guidance Counsellor who must possess:
- A Manitoba Teacher's Certificate, or eligibility for teacher certification in the Province of Manitoba.
- Guidance Counselling coursework and practicum, working towards obtaining a Master's of Education Degree in Guidance and Counselling within a three-year period.
- Five years successful teaching experience.
- A strong academic background with thorough knowledge of school programs in a range of grade levels and the ability to access community resources.
- Experience in working collaboratively with staff and support agencies to address the needs of students individually, in groups, and in the classroom.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in the differentiation of instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess:
- Training in areas such as Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Threat Assessment, Suicide Prevention, Solution Focused counselling, and motivating reluctant learners, and demonstrated ability to assist with the creation of a safe and healthy environment for students.
- Experience in the philosophy of a multi-age classroom as it relates to curriculum planning and implementation, instructional diversity, and classroom learning environment.
