Basic Requirements Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario; Ability to perform BCLS to the College of Nurses Standards; Demonstrates knowledge of the nursing process and the ability to apply this knowledge in the clinical setting; Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of the care of the general patient in the unit and the ability to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting; Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education and a willingness to actively participate in departmental education activities; Demonstrates the ability to assess the patients learning needs and ability to plan appropriate teaching; Demonstrates a respectful attitude to patients, the public and colleagues; Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in an oral and written format with patients, public, colleagues and other health professional; Ability to work autonomously and within the multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment; Demonstrates an understanding and a willingness to participate in self-evaluation; Proficiency in English and French oral expression (level 4 - advanced) and comprehension (level 4 - advanced). The Ottawa Hospital uses a 5-level language proficiency scale to define the required level of language skills in English and in French for positions at the Hospital, and to evaluate job candidate language skills. Language proficiency requirements are based on the nature of the position and the level of interaction with French and English-speaking clients. Requirements
Applicants must hold current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, be able to perform BCLS, and demonstrate clinical nursing knowledge, communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. Advanced oral expression and comprehension in both English and French are required; preferred qualifications include two years of medical-surgical experience and experience in cardiovascular care, cardiac monitoring, arrhythmia interpretation, and ECG interpretation.
